Positive: The whole experience and location

Only stayed the one night but was very pleasant and the hotel was in an ideal spot . Lovely location Positive: Good location easy instructions on how to enter the hotel as was self check in and out. Nice size room and clean . A goody bag left which was a nice gesture . Negative: The only issue was the standing bath taps were loose so had to be careful when turning taps on .

Great location, lovely old building, but poorly maintained. Positive: The location was brilliant. Penarth is a lovely little place. The property is close to the beach on a quiet road. The room was spacious and had a sea view. Negative: This property is not a hotel. No staff on site. Room cleaning is only carried out for an extra fee (read the small print). The room and communal areas are slightly neglected. Dust on surfaces, dirty windows and wobbly fittings. Cheap plastic plants are not a good look. Lack of shelving and surfaces - to make a drink, or put toiletries etc. The terrace garden has fake grass and gravel that needed weeding. This was formerly a very swanky hotel - it is a shame it is not being maintained properly. The self catering suites may be better.

What I didn’t like was the Price at £230 for a night we expected to at least be able to use the Spa. I tried to contact someone for a week leading up to our stay and no one returned my calls or emails to query this. When we got there, they expected us to pay an extra £20 per person to use a Spa that wasn’t even fully up and running. The restaurant staff were friendly enough but could not give us any information about our stay. There was also no option for breakfast. All in all the property was lovely but not worth the money.
