Delightful place if only a bit of attention to detail was applied. Room needed a refresh by a professional painter. The Positive: Beautiful building, but where was the sea view? Our view was a scruffy rooftop and someone’s private patio. The gentleman in the Spa area though was absolutely charming, but that is a separate concern to the hotel. Restaurant not open. Negative: The check in is horrendous. Date of birth? ID? And why the check in asks ( as we eventually found out) that the date of birth required is using an AMERICAN format. Penarth was in Wales the last time I looked. Flaking paintwork all around the bed area? The shower screen had godknowswhat along the bottom. Toilet paper, why a partial roll on the holder, some else had been using prior to our arrival. The cups had to be washed, sticky, as was the glass surface on the dressing table. The bedside lights weren’t good enough to read by. Only 3 hangers so most of our clothes remained folded in suitcases, however following a complaint to them, more hangers were sent the following day. The room, south facing, got very warm despite using a blind. There are fans but most hotels these days have air on. And as for the cheek of requiring £120 facility as a deposit, ludicrous. The hotel had mt card details, proof of I’d, phone number, address, date of birth, wife’s name, perfect for identity theft. Only two vials of body wash/shampoo for two people for two days? Tea/ coffe not topped up.someone running this company is a penny-pincher and we don’t expect that when renting supposedly high quality rooms.

Nice relaxing break away. Positive: Gorgeous self check in hotel, very clean, comfortable and modern. Couldn’t get over how large our bathroom was. The pool was lovely as well, a great little added feature for our stay. Nice bag of goodies left in our room as well was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend. Negative: The pool was a bit too cool, could be heated a bit more.

Positive: The place was nice and worked for what we needed Negative: It was strange not having any people around and made it feel a little colder than im used to but was all very straight forward

Disappointed Positive: The location, beautiful old building Negative: The room did not live up to the “deluxe king room” description , it had none of the beautiful see views shown on the pictures, guests from the next room could look into our room from their terrace, the room and bathroom were very small, we could not set the shower to get tempered water, the water was scorching. Staff were very kind. This room should be labeled standard room and not deluxe, rather book a Premier Inn, at least they have air conditioning.
